The first rainy season of this year 2024 has already generated the first effects in the Huila region, according to the Risk Management Office of the Huila government, so far there is a report of 107 emergencies in 26 municipalities, which have left a total of 960 people affected.

The localities that have reported the highest number of emergencies so far in Huila are: Palermo, Teruel, La Plata with 10 events and Garzón, where serious damage to infrastructure of all types is recorded.

Likewise, it was reported that the rains have generated destruction of 2 homes, 195 more damaged and 12 that are in high-risk situations.

At the same time that 55 roads affected with landslides, both in rural and urban areas, in addition to 2 bridges affected in the municipalities of Hobo and Rivera.

In addition to this, 3 pedestrian bridges impacted in the municipalities of Algeciras, Saladoblanco and Elías, and 9 aqueducts affected by the downpours.

“The rain forecasts continue, let us remember that the rains will arrive until mid-June 2024. “That is why we call the attention of relief agencies and the community to take preventive measures to avoid a greater impact of these adverse events generated by rainfall,” This was indicated by Orlando Garzón, coordinator of the Disaster Management Process of the Risk Management Office of the Huila government.

According to emergency authorities, the landslides that are affecting the department’s road network, They become the phenomena most affected by winter in Huila.

“Due to the rainfall in recent days, moisture saturation occurs in the soils, that give rise to different levels of probability for the occurrence of landslides, in hillside and high slope areas,” said Garzón.

The alerts by municipality are:

Red alert: Aipe, Algeciras, Campoalegre, Colombia, Hobo, Teruel, Yaguará, Íquira.

Orange alert: Agrado, Isnos, La Plata, Neiva, Paicol, Palermo, Pital, Tesalia, Villavieja.

Yellow Alert: Baraya, Gigante, La Argentina, Nátaga, Saladoblanco, San Agustín, Santa María.
