On the occasion, the status of 13 projects was addressed, five of a private nature and eight belonging to the public sector, linked to different productive sectors.

Thursday, May 2, 2024.- The Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism, Nicolás Grau, together with his Mining counterpart, Aurora Williams, and the presidential delegate of the Tarapacá Region, Daniel Quinteros, led the first Pro-Growth and Employment Cabinet in the area.

The objective of this instance is to review the progress status of the various public and private investment projects, in order to monitor the initiatives that are being developed in the Tarapacá Region. Based on this work, we seek to boost the local economy, channeling the critical nodes of the projects and generating a concrete impact on regional activity.

During the day, the status of 13 projects was addressed, five of a private nature and eight belonging to the public sector, linked to different productive sectors.

Regarding the work carried out, the Minister of Economy, Nicolás Grau, pointed out that “we have had a positive meeting, identifying critical nodes that delayed the progress of investment projects, evaluating and resolving, in each case, the coordination required to accelerate the progress of the initiatives discussed. With the work carried out, we hope to soon have news regarding the streamlining of public and private projects, concretizing the boost that investments require in the Tarapacá Region and which we hope will also translate into a concrete effect on local employment and the quality of life of its inhabitants

For her part, the Minister of Mining, Aurora Williams, indicated that this day “allowed us to directly address the most relevant projects in the Tarapacá Region, along with talking with the different private owners to know what the knots actually are and how we seek the procedural facilitation of these projects. Likewise, we held a regional cabinet where we reviewed the most relevant public projects. That is our greatest interest, that public investment and private investment have the corresponding dynamism. Today, where we have also learned good news for the region, where we managed to lower the unemployment rate from 6.8% to 6.4%. “That is the progress we want as a Government, to advance in investment and advance in employment.”

Meanwhile, the regional presidential delegate, Daniel Quinteros, explained that “we had the possibility of reviewing five projects for more than 11 billion dollars and they have the potential to generate employment, to generate development, to generate growth and well-being for the region. For example, in terms of public health, with hospitals, with mental health centers, with educational offerings, which has also been a problem in the region and with another series of infrastructures that are critical for the development of Tarapacá.”

The Pro Growth and Employment cabinet is promoted by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, with the mission of promoting public and private investment projects. This, with the objective of reactivating the economy of the different regions of the country, as well as strengthening the generation of jobs. This cabinet has already met, in addition to its current version in Tarapacá, in the regions of Coquimbo, Valparaíso Maule, Ñuble, Los Ríos and Los Lagos.
