Havana, May 2 (RHC) With an extensive program that includes concerts, film screenings, staging and workshops, the May Pilgrimage begins today in Holguín, which, until next day the 8th, will be celebrating three decades since it was founded.
Dedicated to the 65th anniversaries of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic) and the House of the Americas, they will be officially inaugurated after the usual parade from the Mayor General Calixto García stadium to the La Periquera Provincial Museum.
Preceded by the car tour and the tribute to Latin American heroes and liberators, the Pre Romerías concert will be led by Tony Ávila and his group, in the Bosque de los Héroes, in the Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Calixto García.
Among the varied musical proposals are also the Iris Duo, Ron con cola, Roly Berrio, Polito Ibáñez, Nelson Valdés, Ray Fernández, Adrián Berazain and Luis Barbería together with Figaro’s Jazz Club, which will perform in the Plaza de la Marqueta , the café of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) and the Plaza del Arte Joven in Calixto García park.

Memoria Nuestra, a thought congress and award for young researchers, will take place at the La Periquera Provincial Museum and will feature the inaugural panel “Sharing Memories. 65 years of the ICAIC and the Casa de las Américas”, by Manuel Herrera Reyes, National Film Award 2022 and Jorge Fornet Gil, director of the Literary Research Center of the Casa de las Américas.
The Provincial Center of Plastic Arts will host Babel again, and announces a discussion on contemporary Cuban photography with guests such as Humberto Mayol and Julio Lamarrendi, in addition to the personal exhibition “Beyond the Epic”, by Ernesto Fernández, National Prize for Plastic Arts 2011.
The Bloguerías de Mayo, a space for debate on the Internet and journalism, will be dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Cuban News Agency and the 25th anniversary of the Round Table being founded, and will host panels and exchanges between media and communication professionals. to address topics such as social networks and artificial intelligence in the current context.
Likewise, the spaces Cámara Azul, Shared Words, as well as Destrabando la trova, Rapnarök, Rockmerías and Electroromerías will be held among the musical moments.
Organized by the AHS, the May Pilgrimage, held annually in the city of Holguín for three decades, brings together representatives of all art manifestations in the country to exchange for seven days at the World Festival of Artistic Youth. (Source: ACN)
