Bogota. On April 12, the Manzanaro artist Yeison Jiménez received the recognition for the Exemplary Artist of Life at the Congress of the Republic, within the Café Awards. National media headlined the news as if Congress had made the recognition. However, through its social networks, the House of Representatives explained that “Jiménez has not received any official decoration from the Congress of the Republic. To avoid confusion, the House of Representatives prohibited the loan of institutional spaces such as the Elliptical Hall for events organized by private entities.” Spot.
Manizales, among the most wordy
Manizales. The language learning platform Preply, which connects authors with students in 180 countries, conducted a study in 20 Colombian cities to establish which cities pronounce the most bad words during the day. The result showed that Medellín is the most “wordy” with 9 daily. In second place were Manizales and Cali with 8, followed by Bucaramanga, Bello and Santa Marta with 7 bad words expressed daily. Behind this vulgar, poorly spoken or rude language of Colombians, Preply assures that it may reflect a lack of linguistic refinement, but it also represents part of the Colombian identity by expressing itself with colloquial language in a unique way. The surprise was that Barranquilla was in last place along with Cúcuta with 4 daily, knowing that they also use “expletives” as part of their language.
