They capture six police officers for alleged homicide of a detainee in Chinchiná

Members of the CTI of the Prosecutor’s Office They captured six uniformed members of the Chinchiná Police this Thursday morning.

The link with the alleged murder of Keiver José Rico Moraelwhich occurred on December 23 of last year, when was detained in the cell of the municipality’s station. The victim died at the San Marcos hospital.

Those captured are a second lieutenant, a mayor, a deputy mayor and four patrolmenone of them is in Spain and had to report to work yesterday.

They are charged with the crimes of aggravated torture and aggravated homicide. The case is handled by The specialized Fourth Prosecutor’s Office of Manizales. A specialized Military and Police Criminal Justice Prosecutor’s Office also investigates the events.

The Caldas Police Command issued a statement referring to this process:

  1. Within the framework of the Police Integrity Policy, this unit began an investigation in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office that involved the capture of 6 uniformed officers assigned to the Caldas Police Department.
  2. In the same sense, at the disciplinary level, a process was opened to clearly determine all the circumstances that framed the conduct of the indicated uniformed officers.
  3. The uniformed officers must face criminal charges for omitting their duty as public officials and failing to comply with police ethics.
