They awarded the prizes for the Regional Ideas Contest on the roundabout in Plaza Belgrano

The mayor of San Salvador de Jujuy, Raúl “Chuli” Jorge, accompanied by the president of the College of Architecture Professionals of Jujuy, Elena Bardi, presented the prizes to the winners of the contest for the enhancement and refunctionalization of the roundabout located in Plaza Belgrano.

In this framework, the mayor of San Salvador de Jujuy, Raúl “Chuli” Jorge, expressed the importance of valuing the heritage of the people of Jujuy and in this case in particular the Plaza Belgrano, “the organization of this contest began in the month December, when we convened the College of Architecture Professionals to open participation to interested students, through a contest that allows us to extract the best ideas to be able to translate them at some point. The roundabout is a very emblematic place in the square and a century ago it fulfilled a role; today we have to think about refunctionalizing and enhancing not only the square but its entire surroundings.”

Likewise, Mayor Jorge reported that this was a contest of ideas that will be put to the consideration of the neighbors through an exhibition, “we are very happy with the results and we hope to share the results with the citizens of this effort of the professionals involved.” .

For her part, the president of the Jujuy Professional Association, Elena Bardi, indicated “this competition was organized between the Association of Architects and the Municipality of the Capital through the Argentine Federation of Architectural Entities, we concluded this competition for the implementation value of the historic center of the Capital.”

Next, Bardi explained that 24 studios of young architects in many cases and other related professionals participated, “we had many very good ideas and the jury evaluated all the proposals and we are presenting the respective awards with great emotion and the winner was an architect from Jujuy. very young man named Facundo Soraide de Palpalá.”

On this topic, Facundo Soraide, who was the winner of the contest, explained that the result was the teamwork of 4 people and highlighted that it was a great challenge and simultaneously a great opportunity to express his ideas, “this project takes three very important axes, one “It is the regularization of water, on the other hand, the care of heritage and sustainability, which is a very important issue to develop this proposal.”

Finally, Florencia Fochi explained that her role was to minimize the socio-environmental impacts of the roundabout and the immediate surroundings, “we also work to maintain native species and include other species based on other aspects such as flowering and landscaping of Plaza Belgrano and a fundamental axis is to conserve heritage using water as something fundamental.”

This competition was organized by the Municipality of San Salvador de Jujuy and the College of Architectural Professionals of the province. The jury studied 24 proposals and decided to award in first place the architect Facundo Soraide and the engineer Florencia Fochi, in second place the team from Santiago del Estero led by Abraham Cejas, in third place the architect Nallibe Abraham Baucis and in fourth place the architect Gonzalo Aldonate.
