Cuban Customs reports on extension of benefits until June 30, 2024

The General Customs of the Republic of Cuba has recently reported on the extension of some import benefits until June 30, 2024.

In essence, you must know that the organism has expanded Until June 30, 2024, the import of food, hygiene, medicines and medical supplies.

Items that fall within this category may be taken to Cuba “without limits on their value and exempt from customs payment.” Of course, it is noted that these products must be presented to Customs in “separate packages from the rest of the luggage.”

Bring food to Cuba in 2024

Since August 2023, the entry of some products of animal origin that are normally regulated or prohibited is authorized. But, they must come from some eligible countries.

For example, the entry of fresh, frozen, dehydrated or salted meats, edible organ meats, and semi-processed meat products is now accepted at Cuban airports. Also, sausages made from beef and/or pork, seafood products (canned or not) originating from any geographical area.

Luggage for Cuba: medical supplies

With the health crisis in Cuba, the government also authorized the import of more than 100 medical supplies to the island.

The list includes items ranging from disposable gowns and urine collectors to syringes of all sizes, orthodontic materials such as brackets, wires, bands and portable pulse oximeters.

You can also bring your personal belongings (up to 25 kg) to Cuba for free, such as a laptop, a mobile phone (or a tablet) and 5 kg of miscellaneous items (clothes, shoes, etc.). In total, up to 30 kg would be free.
