Matanzas, Cuba, May 2. – A wide foreign participation will distinguish the edition XV of the International Puppet Festival of Matanzas (Festitim) to take place from the 14th to the 19th.

Representatives from Canada, the United States and the Dominican Republic stand out among those confirmed to date at the event, which will address among its central themes the ending of all forms of discrimination against women, in pursuit of a healthy and equivalent world.

According to what Festitim’s artistic director, Rubén Darío, told Prensa Latina exclusively, international artists will give workshops on the development of women and girls in the world of puppetry, which stands out as one of the most important aspects of this 15th edition. .

We decided to dedicate this year’s meeting to the role played by the figure of women in the altarpieces, so praising the work they do every day will be a fundamental objective, he assured.

The director of Teatro de Las Estaciones explained that theoretical forums will be developed in order to discuss performance throughout the history of theater in Cuba and the world in which figures such as Dora Alonso, Nancy Delvert and Beba Farías will stand out.

Festitim 2024 will be dedicated to the 80 years of maestro René Fernández and the 30 years of the Teatro de Las Estaciones in evidence of an example of artistic perseverance, which transcends time and continues to propose pedagogical actions for professionals and amateurs of the theatrical universe.
