In the face of river flooding due to rain, Searpi issues orange and yellow alerts

The Water Channeling and Regularization Service of the Piraí River (Searpi) reported large floods in the Piraí, Yapacaní and Ichilo rivers after the rains recorded in the early hours of this Friday. Given this situation, the entity issued orange and yellow weather alerts.

The alerts went off

Marcos Cortez, director of Searpi basins, reported that given this situation An orange alert was issued for the Piraí River and a yellow alert for the Yapacaní and Ichilo rivers.

“Drag drivers are recommended to suspend all activity and the population to avoid crossing rivers so as not to put their integrity at risk“, Cortez said.

Likewise, the director warned that, with the rains that are occurring, “we believe that the levels in the different rivers will not continue to increase. Good control of the rivers is being managed, we do not believe that there will be any type of flood or any overflow type, “But we will be on top of the early warning system to inform the population in a timely manner.”

In Yapacaní the flood was significant

For her part, Soledad Prado, El Deber correspondent in Yapacaní, highlighted that the normal level of the river is one meter, but after the intense rain this Friday, it has reached four meters, “which threatens areas such as “Los Pozos, Boquerón, Zamora, Central Yapacaní, Victoria del Norte.”

“The rainy day this Friday has caused the suspension of face-to-face classes in some educational unitsto safeguard the health of students.”
