San Luis Potosí will host the National and Ibero-American Congress of Tourist GuidesThis was announced by the Union of Tourist Guides of San Luis Potosí, AC, which invited specialists in this topic to join the nascent association.
This Friday the Union of Tourist Guides of San Luis Potosí AC was presented, which is chaired by Miguel Galagarra Robledo, and is accompanied by Adriana Fernández Avilés as secretary, and Lorie Jones as treasurer.
Galagarra Robledo indicated that This association was created with the intention of strengthening coordination between tourism service providers to improve the quality of service to visitors.. He stated that in the state there are around 450 certified tourist guides, to whom he invited to join the association.
And to be part of the Union of Tourist Guides, a requirement is to have valid tourist guide credential and have the National Tourism Registry updated; The credential is renewed every four years, and the Registry every two years.
He mentioned that for now, they will seek to contact tourist guides through digital means throughout the state to invite them to join, and later in-person visits will be made for the same purpose.
On the other hand, Lori Jones announced that after several attempts, it was possible to specify San Luis Potosí as the headquarters of the XV National and Ibero-American Congress of Tourist Guides, which will take place from September 3 to 8. Around 500 guides from all over Mexico are expected to attend, as well as from countries such as Peru, Colombia, Guatemala, and Brazil.
He explained that during the Congress there will be three days of conferences in the Peace Theatera day of visits and experiences around the city, and on the weekend there will be field visits that will include everything from nearby tours such as Santa María and the Ruta del Mezcal, to trips to Xilitla and Real de Catorce.
Finally, he highlighted that the congress offers 50 valid hours to renew the guide credential, since 160 hours of training are required every 4 years to renew it until obtaining the permanent credential.
