The Santiago chapter of the Cuban Nursing Society (SOCUENF) promotes improvement
professional, as part of the provincial day for May 12, International Nursing Day.
In this regard, María Luisa Riveaux Hernández, president of the provincial chapter of SOCUENF, informed Sierra Maestra that since April, refresher courses have been held in all municipalities, as a prelude to the Nursing scientific conferences in the nine territories.
“They are training actions to increase the performance of our professionals in the different services of the Maternal and Child Care Program, the Program for the prevention and control of chronic non-communicable diseases, the Program for the Elderly. The objective is that these courses, like the workshops and scientific events that are held, respond to the solution of the problems that affect the development of each program,” he explained.
SOCUENF promotes the exchange of experiences and the generalization of good practices; as well as the promotion of research results in the field of healthcare and medical teaching.
In that sense, Riveaux Hernández stressed that the province achieved five publications in magazines
high-impact scientists, in 2023; and so far in 2024, two have been carried out, and others are being prepared
articles.
With the motto “The power of professional care”, the activities to celebrate May 12 highlight the role of nurses as key actors in health promotion and disease prevention in Santiago de Cuba.
