Days ago, the first regular meeting of the Federal Drug Council (COFEDRO) was held at the Kirchner Cultural Center. The event brings together the 24 representatives of the provinces on drug policies.

The opening of the meeting was headed by the Minister of Health of the Nation, Mario Russo, together with the Secretary of Comprehensive Drug Policies of the Argentine Nation, Roberto Moro.

During the day, presentations were made of the main lines of action for the prevention of problematic consumption, immediate attention and a comprehensive approach from a community and therapeutic approach.

The axes of work were presented regarding federal coordination, international relations and research and statistics, through the Argentine Drug Observatory (OAD).

There was also discussion about the approach carried out by the provincial drug observatories and the Early Warning System (SAT).

For his part, the Rioja representative, Pablo Barrionuevo, representative of the Directorate of Mental Health and Addictions, commented that the main management guidelines were worked on where the axes focused on care and support in drug matters, with the aim of reduce demand through an articulation of the network of care and prevention services in all areas of addressing problematic consumption.

During the meeting, each provincial delegate presented the current situation at the local level regarding drugs and the need for specific policies that allow working on demand in the territory with a focus on universal prevention, support and constant training for drug users could be highlighted. mental health teams and local actors.
