Unemployment drops by 354 people in April, to 13,354 unemployed

Logroño (EFE).- Unemployment registered in the Employment Offices in La Rioja has decreased by 354 people last April, 2.58% less compared to the previous month, which has placed the total number of unemployed at 13,354 , according to data published by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy.

Compared to April 2023, registered unemployment in this community has fallen by 792 people, 5.60% less; while the national average has decreased by 4.37%.

Of the 13,354 unemployed registered in La Rioja, 5,246 are men and 8,108 are women; 917 are under 25 years old -485 men and 432 women-; and 12,437 are over that age – 4,761 men and 7,676 women.

More female unemployment

In La Rioja there are 2,666 unemployed foreign workers, after last April it fell by 104, -3.75%.

By sector, registered unemployment has decreased in all and has decreased by 86 people in agriculture, 123 in industry, 1 in construction and 132 in services and 12 in the group of those without previous employment.

In total, in La Rioja there are 1,060 unemployed people registered in the Rioja agricultural sector; 2,163 in industry, 737 in construction, 8,451 in services and 943 in the group of those without previous employment.

Last month, La Rioja recorded 7,672 contracts (2,609 permanent, 268 of them by conversion and 4,790 temporary), which represents a monthly variation of 821 more, an 11.98% increase.

Membership grows

Social Security affiliation increased last April in La Rioja by 738 people compared to the previous month, which represents an increase of 0.54% and places the total number of employed people at 137,344.

According to data from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, this variation, compared to April 2023, is 2,690 more affiliates in La Rioja, a 2% increase; somewhat lower than the national average of 2.36%.

In the Rioja community there are 112,843 members in the General Regime, of which 107,027 are included in the General System, 3,376 in the Special Agrarian System and 2,440 in the Special System for Domestic Employees; and 24,501 are self-employed.
