Malvinas de La Paz tied 1 to 1 as a visitor against Peñarol de Paraná and secured a place in the defining bracket of the Entre Ríos Cup “Argentina World Champion”.
In the first leg, played seven days ago in the north of Entre Ríos, they had won by 2 to 1, so the people of La Paz won 3 to 2 on aggregate.
In this way, Gonzalo Sánchez’s team will wait for the winner of Gimnasia de Concepción del Uruguay and Victoria de Concordia, to meet their next and last rival in the provincial competition.
At the start of the game, the Paraná team started better on the ground. At 20, Joaquín D’Arrigo had the clearest, when he connected with a header that forced Sandro Núñez to make an effort to stop him.
Without a doubt, this play was a harbinger of what would come in the 32nd minute, since once again D’Arrigo’s head was the protagonist, this time to crown a great collective play and put the partial 1 to 0 for the locals.
When 7 minutes of the complement were played, Juan Garcetti appeared to equalize the match and put Malvinas ahead on aggregate. However, three minutes later, the La Paz team suffered the expulsion of Andrés Bolognini.
From there, the rest of the game proceeded along predictable lines. Malvinas, with one less and away from home, began to take care of the advantage by retreating against Núñez’s goal. As the end approached, Peñarol’s ideas lacked patience and clarity.
In this context, the visiting team took advantage, blocking their opponent and clinging to a tie that gave them qualification for the last stage of the Cup.
In this way, the tricolor institution, which a few days ago celebrated nine years of life, will try to give the Paceña Football League its fourth star, as Cicles Club Unidos, Independiente and Sol Naciente already did.
The other finalist will be known on Monday night, when Gimnasia and Victoria compete in the rematch of the 0-0 scoreline recorded in Concordia. Both teams will face each other, from 7:30 p.m., at the Manuel and Ramón Núñez de la Historica.
It should be remembered that, in this edition of the contest, the final series will be played with round-trip matches, leaving the home spot for the rematch in the hands of whoever finished in the best place in the qualifying stage, published ElOnce.
