At the San Ramón Secondary School, the Directorates of Sports and Physical Education and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education launched the Recreational Activities in Secondary Schools (ARES) 2024 Project, which combines the areas of Physical Education, Sports and Artistic Education to strengthen the school trajectories of boys, girls and adolescents from 11 to 18 years old through Visual and Audiovisual Arts, Dance, Music and Theater in alternative spaces to the school day and schedule.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Education, Gabriela Gallardo; the Director of Sports and Physical Education, Aldana Otero; the director of Secondary Education, Rosa Casares; the director of the institution Lourdes González Álvarez; and supervisors, directors, teachers, students and families of the schools participating in the Project.

The day was complemented by allusive numbers with the choreography “Young People in Motion” by students from San Ramón Secondary School. In addition, the Mate Cocido Popular Work Center Orchestra presented a repertoire of their best performances.

The ARES Project arises with the objective of complying with National Resolution No. 272/19 on the Organization Framework for the teaching of school Physical Education in Argentina. It is intended for secondary school students and students in the 6th year of primary education, and its objective is to expand and improve the conditions and forms of access, permanence and graduation of young people in schools. In addition, it proposes spaces to address: Comprehensive Sexual Education, Problematic consumption, Healthy Eating, Emotional education, among others.

The activities will take place on Saturdays from 10:30 to 12:30 at the Barrio San Ramón Secondary School, Presidente Perón Secondary School, Bernabé Araoz Secondary School, Bº SOEME Secondary School, and León Rouges Middle School. In addition, activities will be carried out on weekdays.

“It is a very special day because we launched a program that seeks to ensure that children and adolescents can spend more time in schools. Not studying, but doing pre-sports, artistic and cultural activities. That is why today, we want to tell the mother, the father, those who carry out care tasks, that the teachers will be here at school to provide a safe space for play and recreation for their children, nephews and grandchildren,” he commented. Aldana Otero.

Along these lines, he added: “we know that we are going through a difficult economic and social moment. Precisely in art and sport we learn to express ourselves and listen to each other, to respect each other, to take care of each other, which is what we need most. We are going to continue betting on the construction of these meeting spaces, for a school that can have its doors open for longer. I hope this is the beginning of a stage that brings growth and well-being to all of us.”

“I want to thank the enormous commitment of the directors who made available the institutions in which this program will be developed. I also want to recognize the work of all the teams that worked so that the conditions were met and that we could be here today. To the families, thank you for entrusting us with the care and education of those who, as of today, are the new attendees of the ARES Program,” she concluded.
