During an event in Ciudad Bolívar in Bogotá, Vice President Francia Márquez referred for the first time to the scandal in the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD): “We promised to confront corruption (…) we reject the corruption of those who are coming here just to line their pockets,” Márquez said.

”As vice president, I cannot stop expressing and expressing my rejection of those who believe that they can come to this government to steal and do whatever they want with the rights of the people. It is not possible that people are coming to the government who believe that here is their opportunity to fill their pockets (…) They have to leave with all due respect, Mr. President, from this government,” added the vice president.

This meeting is part of a Government tour of popular neighborhoods in Bogotá and other cities in the country.

Another official who also referred to the issue was the Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, He also referred to the corruption scandals in the Disaster Risk Management Unit (UNGRD).

“The Government has to shake off the corruption that has been present in the history of the country. (…) One sees faces, but one does not see hearts”, referring to officials who recently left the Government, such as the presidential advisor for the regions, Sandra Ortiz and Andrés Idárraga, secretary of Transparency.
