In a new act of violence in the department of Cauca, the tranquility in the rural area of Silvia was shaken by an attack perpetrated by the ‘Dagoberto Ramos’ structure of the FARC dissidents, led by alias ‘Iván Mordisco’.
Two soldiers lost their lives and two others were seriously injured in an attack with “tatuco” type explosives launched by this structure on the troops who were carrying out security and protection tasks for the civilian population in the Buena Vista village.
The tragic event occurred while the Arpon 3 platoon of the Army was facing this FARC dissident in an attempt to control the situation in the region.
The attack, which left two dead and two injured, highlights the serious security situation currently facing the department of Cauca.
Defense Minister Iván Velásquez had previously warned about the possibility of new clashes in the area, especially in the Micay corridor.
Given the magnitude of the situation, more military troops were deployed to the area to provide support and reinforce the attacked unit.
The presence of the army in the region seeks to restore order and guarantee the security of the civilian population.
The confrontation between the Arpon 3 platoon of the Army and the ‘Dagoberto Ramos’ structure of the FARC dissidents shows the persistence of the armed conflict in some areas of the country, despite the government’s efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
The authorities continue to investigate the incident and carry out operations to find those responsible for this new act of violence in the department of Cauca.
This tragedy once again mourns Colombia and highlights the urgent need to find effective solutions to end the armed conflict and guarantee the security and well-being of all citizens.
