The child neurologist Oscar Villalba spoke will participate in the “XXXIII Annual Congress of the Mexican Society of Pediatric Neurology AC 2024” that will be held from May 6 to 11 in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco (Mexico).
The specialist will present his research on cannabidiol treatment in pediatric patients with refractory epilepsy in Mexico. “I have been working for many years and I have the possibility of lending it, in Mexico.”
“This coming the 10th I will be doing my presentation.” and I add; “Treatment with cannabidiol for refractory epilepsy is giving a very good response and we are going to make that known in our work.”
The research consists of demonstrating the benefits and effectiveness that were achieved in 18 pediatric patients in the province of La Rioja with a diagnosis of Refractory Epilepsy, during several years of research, Villalba being one of the first health professionals and pioneer in Argentina to incorporate Cannabidiol as a treatment in children.
This work is about 18 patients with Refractory Epilepsy, but currently there are more than 30 patients throughout the province with cannabidiol treatment. To the 18 cases with Refractory Epilepsy, there are new patients with epilepsy who were not included in the study and others who were prescribed cannabidiol for other pathologies that are not epilepsy (autism, spasticity, chronic pain, etc.).
“All the medicines they are making in Argentina are good and have a high percentage of cannabidiol, where all the medicinal oils they are making are very good” argument.
Concluding, Villalba expressed that; “It is important that governments not only advance with the plantation but with the production of medicines, it is great because it is a highly requested medication throughout the world.”
