The monument of the founder of Santa Marta, Rodrigo de Bastidas, He received a tribute from the Society for Research and Dissemination of the History of Spain (SOIDHE) and the District Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta, on the Bay median.

The activity included the words of the Secretary of Government, Camilo George; the president and founder of SOIDHE, Antonio Ríos; and the Secretary General of the Federation of Hispanic Entities and Associations (FEAH), José Francisco Jiménez. Subsequently, A floral offering was carried out at the Bastidas monument, followed by the presentation of the folklore group from the University of Magdalena and the declamation of the poet Rafael Medina Brochero.

This event, sponsored by the Blas de Lezo Foundation, marks SOIDHE’s twelfth visit to Latin America. This time it was Colombia’s turn. This visit had the purpose of paying tribute to emblematic figures such as Rodrigo de Bastidas, founder of Santa Marta; Blas de Lezo, from Cartagena; and Don Juan de la Cosa, by Turbaco. The main objective is to make a documentary that records the history, architecture, emblems and characters of the three cities of the Colombian Caribbean, and their deep historical relationship with Spain.
