Santa Cruz Mayor’s Office moves towards modernization and educational quality

In three years of management, the Municipal Directorate of Education dependent on the Municipal Secretariat of Human Development, is working to guarantee quality education for students in the 15 municipal districts through the provision of technological equipment, sets of furniture, supplies schoolchildren, among other benefits.

Raúl Ascarrunz, municipal director of Education, reported that by order of Mayor Jhonny Fernández, education is being modernized through the delivery of 34,577 computers/tablets with internet access for 5th and 6th grade secondary school students; as well as with the implementation of 170 computing centers. The investment exceeds 99 million bolivianos.

“To guarantee that the students of Santa Cruz de la Sierra have quality training, we are delivering large-scale technological equipment for educational technology. Municipal management is making a difference with works to serve the people,” said Ascarrunz.

More than 20 thousand sets of furniture (tables and chairs) for initial, primary and secondary school are being delivered according to schedule, meaning an investment of Bs 20,209,421, exceeding 62,000 students benefiting.

The municipal authority emphasized that thanks to the vision of the mayor, a great step has been taken in democratizing the delivery of complementary school feeding to all students in school.

In three years of management, 164,640,00 rations have been delivered to the initial, primary and secondary levels.

On the other hand, at the beginning of the administration, Fernández fulfilled his electoral promise by delivering the Bs 350 school bonus, benefiting 195,836 pre-school and primary school students, with an investment of Bs 68,542,600. Likewise, to contribute to the economic reactivation in the 2023 administration, he delivered the school incentive of Bs 100, of which 164,438 students were beneficiaries.

From the municipal entity, 207,487 packages of supplies have been delivered to the initial and primary levels. “The mayor thinks about the economy of our people, proof of this is that in the 2024 administration we are going to deliver more than 212,000 packages of school supplies,” said Ascarrunz.

He noted that the implementation of the Humanistic Technical Baccalaureate is part of the actions to prioritize to ensure economic reactivation with the training of qualified labor.

Within the Annual Operational Plan (POA) 2024, the municipality of Santa Cruz has allocated other resources to works such as modern educational modules with public internet service, as well as programs and projects for the 15 districts.
