The fall of the Santana bridge, which connects the municipality with La Uribe in Meta, occurred due to intense rains that caused floods in the La Legiosa stream. Fabián Alexander González, local councilor, pointed out that this problem has persisted since December 2023, when the rising waters of the stream eroded part of the bridge structure, leaving it inaccessible.

The Santana Bridge, located 50 minutes from the urban center of Colombia on the road that goes to El Dorado, is crucial for the project to link the municipality with La Uribe. Despite multiple requests for early intervention from the departmental authorities to repair the damage caused by the rains, it seems that they have not paid enough attention to the problem.

Councilor González warned about the possibility that continuous rains continue to undermine the road, which would be a tragedy foretold. The repair of the bridge is estimated at double the cost of its original construction, around $3 billion, so it is imperative to act quickly to avoid further economic losses and restore the town’s connection with the rest of the country.

Residents expect greater attention from the departmental government, as they feel abandoned in this crisis. In addition to the economic difficulties for merchants and farmers, the community has suffered significant disruptions to its mobility and access to basic services.

On the other hand, the secretary of the town, Andrés Camilo Cabrera Leiva, has directed efforts to mitigate the effects of the rains, coordinating the removal of landslides that have affected mobility in some areas of the municipality. However, the situation persists on the Santana bridge, where the impact remains unresolved.

The tranquility of the inhabitants of La Argentina and La Plata, in the department of Huila, has been disturbed by the intimidations carried out by the FARC dissidents, who imposed a curfew in these municipalities, which have a total population of 94,000. population.

The warnings have been disseminated mainly among farmers, housewives and merchants through audio messages, in which they reiterate night mobility restrictions.

According to the audios, which were strategically released to generate fear among the population, no one will be able to go out on the streets of these towns starting at 7:00 pm. They also issued specific orders that affect commercial and community activities in these urban centers, according to the review of Time on the matter, which exposed this serious case of impact on people’s mobility.

This armed group, led by alias Jhonier Martínez of the Jaime Martínez bloc of the Central General Staff, is responsible for prohibiting residents from moving freely through the streets.

The imposition directly affects the scheme of life and social order in specific areas, such as Belén Gallego and Villa Losada, as well as in various villages and townships in the region, as expressed in the audios that were released to the population.

“A subject named Jhonier Martínez orders a curfew especially in the town centers of Belén Gállego and Villa Losada, as well as in some villages and townships in this region,” indicated residents of La Plata, who have been affected by extortions and homicides, according to the aforementioned media.

The situation continues to be distressing, since even in Neiva attacks on businesses and the civilian population are being reported daily.
