To celebrate Cuban Son Day and the 130th anniversary of the birth of Miguel Matamoros, the phonogram “Juramento, antología matamorina” by Septeto Ecos del Tivolí and the Bis Music record label was relaunched this Wednesday in the city of Santiago de Cuba.

Jorge Félix Canvet, director of the Santiago group, commented that this constitutes their seventh album started in August 2019 at the “Eusebio Delfín” Studios in Cienfuegos under the musical production of José Manuel García.

The second part was made at the Siboney Studios of the Musical Recordings and Editions Company of Santiago de Cuba in January 2020, and was finally presented to the market online in May 2021, he stated.

The double album with 30 songs, all by Miguel Matamoros, features luxury guests from Cuba such as Sixto Llorente (the Indian), María Victoria Rodríguez, Haydee Milanés, Mayito Rivera and Zulema Iglesias, and from Puerto Rico, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Andy Montañez, Danny Rivera, among others.

Gabriel Soler, cultural promoter of the untamed city, in charge of contacting the artists, said he was happy because everyone agreed to participate in this tribute to the author of songs such as Son de la loma, El que sowing his corn, Lágrimas negra and Butterfly of spring .

Without a doubt, “Juramento, anthology Matamorina” stands out as the septet’s most important recording production, as it marks the maturity of a group that has just celebrated 32 years of creation, he said.

Miguel Matamoros is part of the musical and sound roots of Cuba, Canvet stated, so this tribute to his art honors us and will surely be a great gift for the public of Santiago and the entire country.

With the injection of young singers and instrumentalists, since 2022 the septet has taken a musical turn, starting with the release of the independent album “Patrimonio al drink” with a great fusion of genres and two video clips that are widely accepted in Latin America, he said.

A new album is currently being recorded, still untitled, where piano and trombone will be heard, with a salsa sound, an experiment that will provide other colors depending on the market, he assured.

The group Ecos del Tivolí was founded on March 20, 1992, inspired by the work of the Trío Matamoros, so its members have dedicated themselves to the study of the life and work of that legendary Cuban group, which is why their eight phonograms , five praise his music.
