Minutes before the event of the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro, begins in the city of Santa Marta, an identifier with the name of Jorge Agudelo Apreza appeared at the main table where the main authorities who will accompany the president will be seated. as if he were the mayor of Santa Marta.
Without confirming whether it was a deliberate action by the Government of Magdalena, which organizes logistics, or a practical joke by someone with access to logistics, the image sent a bad message to public opinion because it makes it seem that the government of Gustavo Petro will not respect democracy, since the current mayor of the city is Carlos Pinedo Cuello.
Added to this is the fact that Gustavo Petro stated in November 2023 that in Santa Martá there was “a mockery of the citizen vote”, since Jorge Agudelo obtained more votes than Carlos Pinedo, despite the fact that Agudelo had registered officially. illegal, and for this reason their votes were annulled.
The presidential event will take place this Wednesday afternoon and the governor of Magdalena, Rafael Martínez, is expected to participate; the Minister of Technologies, Óscar Mauricio Lizcano and five spokespersons to talk about issues of water, health, security, education and women.
The vice president and Minister of Equality, Francia Márquez, and, finally, the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro, are also expected to intervene.
All logistics and organization of the event is the responsibility of the Magdalena Government.
