The Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow; together with the Undersecretary of Labor, Giorgio Boccardo; and the Presidential Delegate of Arica and Parinacota, Ricardo Sanzana, led the Cabinet for Growth and Employment held in the city of Arica, a body whose objective is to review the state of progress and expedite the completion of various public and private investment projects in the region.

Review of public and private projects

  • A series of public and private projects were reviewed in the Cabinet fundamental for the development of the different productive sectors in the area.
  • During the meeting they analyzed 7 private investment projects in the area for more than US$ 900 million, mainly related to renewable energies, in addition to the real estate and logistics sector.
  • They were also reviewed 140 public investment initiatives projected in the region in areas such as health, security and connectivity.

Focus on renewable energy

During his visit to Arica and Parinacota, Minister Pardow visited the construction works of the Roncacho substation located in the commune of Camarones, which will begin operation in the coming weeks. This initiative will allow the connection of the Nueva Pozo Almonte – Parinacota line, which in turn will facilitate the installation of new photovoltaic projects in the area, such as Celda Solar or Alwa.

Commitment to employment

The Undersecretary of Labor, Giorgio Boccardo, highlighted the importance of job creation in the Arica and Parinacota Region. He wants these jobs to be formal and generated with local people. The government is committed to providing the necessary tools to achieve these goals.

Defined deadlines and responsible parties

The Cabinet for Growth and Employment made it possible to define clear deadlines and responsible parties for the advancement of projects both in the private sector and in public investment. It is expected to achieve greater agility in the execution of the initiatives and thus boost economic growth and job creation in the Arica and Parinacota region.
