With the participation of almost 120 students, the initiative was officially launched in La Huayca and La Tirana, marking the beginning of a year full of challenges and opportunities.

In the town of La Huayca, the launch in the Tarapacá region of the ViLTI SeMANN Program took place last Thursday, May 2, executed by the Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN) and financed by SQM Yodo Vegetal Nutrition. This event marked the beginning of a new year full of challenges and opportunities for students and mentors, both from La Huayca and La Tirana.

The meeting was held at the Casa del Sol Basic School and was attended by Gary Mérida Céspedes, head of Community Relations SQM Nueva Victoria; Samuel Díaz Mamani, director of the Education Department of the Municipal Social Development Corporation of Pozo Almonte (Cormudespa); Daniela Castillo Arancibia, in charge of the Casa del Sol Basic School; Olga Hernández Gallo, director of the ViLTI SeMANN Program, and the families of the students in the program.

“We are with the Program in La Huayca and La Tirana to reaffirm once again our commitment to children and their approach to technology, which allows them to speak a universal language that is science. In that sense, the alliance with the Universidad Católica del Norte helps us be a better country, because we are going directly to its foundations, which are the boys and girls.”said Gary Mérida Céspedes, from SQM Nueva Victoria.

The ViLTI SeMANN Program, which began its work three years ago in the towns of La Huayca and La Tirana, aims to promote learning, creativity and personal development in students in the community. The active participation of boys and girls, along with their families, is essential for the success of the program.

Daniela Castillo Arancibia, director of the host school that provided the space to welcome this 2024 version in the area, added that “Hosting this launch allows us to bring children and their families closer to what the program is and to be able to publicize the objectives and, above all, that complement that is generated from robotic education that reaches our students at the initial levels and allows them to develop optimal and deep skills.”.

In total, nearly 120 students participated in the launch, demonstrating the community’s interest and motivation in education and personal growth. The students received a symbolic present as a sign of welcome and commitment to the program.

“We have grown in these last three years of intervention here in the town and we are very grateful to the school and the teaching staff, who with their director opened the doors of the establishment to us. Also, to the teachers of the La Tirana school, who came to La Huayca to witness this 2024 launch that, without a doubt, brings many challenges”commented the director of the ViLTI SeMANN Program, Olga Hernández Gallo.

This milestone marked the third of the Program’s launches in its different intervention locations. On Thursday, May 16, the start of the program in its 2024 version will take place in María Elena, where the entire community is cordially invited, while ViLTI SeMANN continues to build a bright future for students.
