The president of the Republic, Gustavo Petroreferred again on Sunday, May 12, to his initiative to carry out a referendum to carry out his reforms and on his social networks, from early hours, he mentioned what would be included in these initiatives.

The president assured that the constituent power is not necessarily a constituent powerbut rather it is “to bring to constitutional canon” the national agreement that, according to him, was not contemplated with the Magna Carta of 1991.

Through his X account, the head of state mentioned that he is seeking a peace agreement on reform agrarianthe country’s adaptation to the climate crisis, the new territorial planning and the prioritization of public investment in drinking water and environmental sanitation.

In addition to political and justice reformwhich would also be fundamental pillars of his proposal, which would be submitted to the consideration of Colombians.

In the same way, Petro named his great reforms, such as pension, health and educationin the sense of indicating the “immediate guarantees to what he called universal rights.”

It also included the statute of work and social forgiveness after truth, reparation and guarantees of non-repetition to obtain lasting peace.

And he ended with a message that caused concern among his opponents. “Constituent power is to allow society expresses itself and decides itself through a constituent, constitutional assembly or constituent referendum.”

With this, he pointed out that the political and social forces must participate in the definitions of said points mentioned above.
