In the middle of Mother’s Day and a large influx of people who went to different gastronomic and commercial areas in Bogotá, a driver decided to park in the middle of the road, generating a strong traffic jam at Calle 85 and Carrera 13.

The case was known by councilor Juan David Quintero, who shared a couple of photographs on his X account, asking the Mobility Secretary to take the respective actions according to the Law. “If they have whiskey they have ice! There are no first class citizens here! No matter what Ferrari it is, they have to respect the rules,” he warned.

It was thanks to this complaint that traffic agents went to the scene and showed that the vehicle was actually parked right in front of a sign indicating that parking was prohibited on both sides, thus imposing the respective penalty on the driver.

“Neither twingo nor Ferrari! No type of vehicle can obstruct passage on city roads, there is no excuse or right to invade public space. We thank Councilor @JD_quinteror for the complaint from @SectorMovilidad, we reject and sanction this type of behavior,” said the Mobility Secretariat in its X account.

How to report a vehicle parked incorrectly?

  • Write to the social networks of the District Mobility Secretariat (SDM), through the X network account @BogotaTransito exposing the situation.
  • You can also report to the Traffic Police by calling the national line #767 or from Bogotá directly to 123.

It should be remembered that parking a vehicle in prohibited places in Bogotá carries a fine of $522,900 in 2023.
