Since 7 years a geological fault that has not been attended to has in rI take the road that leads from Bucaramanga to the Caribbean Coast.

Well, right in the rural area that borders the municipality of La Esperanza, Norte de Santander, there is a mass movement that is already filling cracks in a mountain, and even houses on the Mesetas trail.

In Bucaramanga there are more than 30 points to claim the Colombia Mayor payment

José Gildardo Ortiz, a member of the Civil Defense team in this region, explained that if the mountain collapses would reach the San Pablo River which is a few kilometers from the national highway, due to the fall of rocks and mud due to heavy rains.

“The mass removal of land is going to reach the San Pablo River, where there is a town of 3,000 inhabitants. “The river reaches the main road that comes from Bucaramanga to the Atlantic Coast.”

At the moment they are beginning to losses of products such as cocoa, since the presence of these cracks in the mountain has affected these crops in Pueblo Nuevo.

They propose to monitor the routes of Santander ranchers with drones and cameras

Peasants who work with coffee, banana, corn and beans They also fear losing their productions or ultimately being unable to distribute them due to road blockages.

“The river where all the mud and stone reaches is 15 kilometers from the national highway. The municipality is 60 kilometers from Bucaramanga and 300 from Cúcuta. Just an hour and a half away. All our patients and producers go to Bucaramanga, we are on the shores of Santander,” added the volunteer.

They ask that a national committee be created with engineers and specialized personnel to prevent a large-scale collapse from occurring. In that case, count on the support of the Santander government since the possible tragedy especially impacts Santander’s communication with the Caribbean Coast.
