The Ministry of National Education renewed the High Quality Institutional Accreditation of the University of Tolima for a period of six years.

The Ministry of National Education renewed the High Quality Institutional Accreditation of the University of Tolima for a period of six years.

This distinction reflects the Institution’s continued commitment to educational quality.

Significant achievement for UT

According to the Resolution 7465 of May 15, 2024, “The University of Tolima has carried out progressive work to strengthen optimal quality related to the comprehensive training of its professionals and the academic community, through processes of creation, development and transmission of knowledge, which has allowed it to develop its mission, vision , objectives, organization and functions. Proof of this are the accreditation processes in their academic programs, in which the development of the Institutional Educational Project (PEI)through an organizational culture aimed at evaluation, continuous improvement and innovation, through the definition of policies, strategic programs, projects, actions and resources.

The decision of the Resolution comes after the National Accreditation Council, CNA, in session held on April 17, 18 and 19, 2024issued a favorable opinion, recommending the renewal of the Institutional Accreditation in High Qualityafter the visit of national and international academic peers to the Institution.

Given the decision of the Ministry of National Education, and at a press conference, the rector of the University of Tolima, Omar Mejía Patiñorecalled that the alma mater received accreditation in 2020, and today, with the renewal of institutional accreditation for a period of six years, the Ministry ratified the University’s commitment to quality higher education. “In eight years that we have been leading this educational project and this social project, we have obtained two high-quality accreditations”highlighted the Rector.

And I add: This achievement has been possible thanks to the efforts of an entire university community that during these 79 years of experience has dedicated its life projects to transforming society through education. Congratulations to each and every one for that great effort, today we demonstrate the high standards for which we work every day.”

The Governor of Tolima, Adriana Magali Matiz, and also president of the Superior Council of the Universityapplauded the decision of the Ministry of National Education and congratulated the entire university community for this important achievement that positions the Institution as one of the best in the country.

“Achieving high-quality accreditation for a University is difficult, it is very difficult, but achieving high-quality reaccreditation is a very great achievement (…). The recognition that high quality is given to the University is precisely due (…) to the verification that all these processes are done with quality, they are done well. These processes in matters of operation, in matters of academic programs, in the organization that the University has as such and in the social work that it also carries out. (…) I believe that this reaccreditation is a recognition of you, of the entire educational community.”the Governor emphasized.

According to the Resolution, accreditation is the recognition that academic peers make of the verification that an institution carries out on the quality of its academic programs, its organization, operation and the fulfillment of its social function, becoming an instrument for the improvement of the quality of higher education. With the decision of the Ministry of National Educationthe University of Tolima once again emphasizes its commitment to the comprehensive training of its students and their contribution to the social development of the region and the country.
