After an intense heat wave in Puerto Boyacá, the authorities are alarmed by the heavy rains.

In recent days, these weather events have been recorded in this area of ​​the department, where the Magdalena River has been affected by the increase in its levels, which have generated an orange and red alert.

Sebastián Cardona, Risk Management professional from Puerto Boyacá, confirmed that “we had a sudden flood in the Magdalena River due to the contribution of Río Negro, Río La Miel, among others, which reached levels of 2 meters and 35 centimeters, generating the orange alert in the municipality of Puerto Boyacá and levels of 5 meters 10 centimeters in the town of Vasconia, Puerto Serviez, generating the red alert… This week we present a new rise, we are already at one meter 20 due to the contribution of the hydrological station of Saint Michael.”

Due to this situation, he confirmed that some families were affected, so constant monitoring of the river is being carried out to begin early warning work for the community.

Likewise, he indicated that the Mayor’s Office is advancing all the family emergency plan processes with the communities so that, in case of emergency, they know what to do, while the municipal Risk Management Council reaches the affected areas.

“It should be noted that we have not yet fully entered the rainy season, these effects are already occurring and the Puerto Boyacense community or surrounding areas will be able to communicate with our Official Fire Department or our National Police who will activate the mechanisms or routes for these situations. that generate emergencies,” he pointed out.
