From the Ministry of Health of Huila, a report of tranquility is sent to the entire population regarding media information that indicates that, in the department, there are active cases of yellow fever.

“At this time in the department of Huila there are no confirmed cases. It is important to note that the health authorities of the region have informed us that three cases of people from the departments of Caquetá and Putumayo have been treated, which have already been ruled out by carrying out the corresponding examinations and studies by specialized personnel with the that we have in our health entities,” explained the Secretary of Health of the Department of Huila, Sergio Mauricio Zúñiga.

The official recalled that for several weeks the health authorities activated a red alert precisely to be alert, carry out monitoring and act promptly and quickly in the event of situations that affect the health of the inhabitants of the department.

“We remain on red alert. We have asked the entire public and private hospital network that we can intensify vaccination against yellow fever and that we remain vigilant by exercising constant monitoring with the support of the local health authorities of the 37 municipalities with the firm idea that, when reporting possible cases, let us all carry out the corresponding traceability and act with due prudence until we have the respective confirmation. In addition, we maintain communication with the health authorities of the respective departments of Cauca, Putumayo and Caquetá to monitor and provide support for eventualities that come from these neighboring regions,” added the Secretary of Health of Huila.

Yellow fever symptoms

The symptoms of yellow fever are: fever, headaches, jaundice, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting and fatigue. A small proportion of infected patients present severe symptoms. If any person presents these signs, it is important to go to the doctor for the respective evaluation and proceed to the corresponding treatment.
