In four work fronts, the Cali Secretariat of Education is carrying out technical visits to the Official Educational Institutions (IEO) of Cali that suffered damage due to the torrential rains last Wednesday, May 15, in the afternoon and which mainly affected to the northern part of the District.

This was reported by Mario Fernando Urresta Laverde, Undersecretary of Sectoral Planning, who explained that “Due to the emergencies presented due to the excessive rains of May 15, the Ministry of Education has arranged a team of engineers and architects who are currently touring the different educational institutions that were affected in order to solve this problem as soon as possible. possible so that our students can continue with their training processes”.

Santa Cecilia, Santo Tomás CASD, La Merced, Isaías Gamboa and El Hormiguero were the IEOs that reported damages (with a cut-off date of May 16) and that were visited in a timely manner by an inter-institutional team made up of the educational organization, Empresas Municipales de Cali (Emcali), Risk Management and other District Administration organizations in order to carry out a diagnosis and assess the damage.

Specifically at the IEO Santa Cecilia, headquarters in the Republic of France, the respective evacuation of sludge has already begun to be carried out with the vacctor (a suction and pressure equipment used for cleaning sewers) and Emcali so that this IEO can continue providing the service. educational. We continue to work jointly in this Administration to guarantee the right to education of our boys, girls, adolescents and young people.”, concluded Urresta Laverde.

The Undersecretary of Sectoral Planning continues to receive reports to schedule the corresponding technical visits that allow it to continue evaluating the damages and providing institutional support for the calamity presented.
