More than 6,600 boys, girls, adolescents and young people from the department of La Guajira will benefit from the presidential program ‘Sounds for the Construction of Peace’, led by the Vice Ministry of Arts and the Cultural and Creative Economy, Jorge Ignacio Zorro, of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge.

The program has an investment of 2,574 million pesos to guarantee artistic and musical training.

“Through the arts, education and music, the National Government contributes to the transformation of territories into scenarios of peace,” said the Vice Minister.

In the delivery of instruments to the Department, Maestro Zorro explained that in addition, “the program will generate employment for 66 training artists in La Guajira, with an impact on 33 educational establishments.

At the same time, he stated “that it is through the arts, education and music that we can contribute to transforming territories into scenarios of peace.”

During the event, the call for hiring training artists was disseminated with cultural directors of La Guajira and 6 kits of traditional music musical instruments were delivered to the benefited educational institutions.

Each set of equipment is made up of four accordions, an electric bass, a bass amplifier, three vallenatas boxes, two vallenatas guacharacas, two guitars, a guitarrillo, a tumbara and a cleaning kit for musical instruments.

“This presidential program is the most important cultural commitment that the Government has undertaken under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro, who set out to fulfill the objective of promoting and providing stimulation to cultures, arts and knowledge through of an inter-institutional articulation between the MinCultura and MinEducació and the higher education establishments,” noted the senior official.
