Human trafficking Quintana Roo

The Attorney General’s Office (FGJ) of Quintana Roo rescued 17 women who were victims of a human trafficking network for the purposes of sexual exploitation and labor with operations in Playa del Carmen.

After an operation to search a property located on the federal highway that connects Cancun with Tulum, the FGJ rescued 15 women from Argentina and two Mexican women who were doing forced sex work.

It was through a statement that the Quintana Roo Prosecutor’s Office reported on the operation that ended with the arrest of three people identified as Luis Alfredo “N”, Emmanuel “N” and Ángel Alberto “N”, all identified for their alleged responsibility in the crime of sexual exploitation.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, women of foreign origin were lured to Mexico with false job offers in luxury hotels in Playa del Carmen.

The authorities reported that the victims of human trafficking arrived in Quintana Roo as tourists, but were approached by criminals who offered them “employment” with exhaustive work hours in bars and restaurants.

The Quintana Roo Prosecutor’s Office shared a video about the search of the establishment of Carmen beach and images of the detainees that were left at the disposal of the competent authorities, while the Argentine women are waiting for their immigration situation to be resolved.

Trafficking in women in Quintana Roo

It is worth remembering that on April 24, the Quintana Roo Prosecutor’s Office rescued another 27 women victims of sexual and labor exploitation from a nightclub in Cancún; According to the authorities, they were originally from Chiapas, Aguascalientes, Campeche, Colima, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Veracruz and Yucatán.

Like the Argentine women, the Mexican women were recruited with false job promises, and the Prosecutor’s Office identified that the victims were girls and young people between one and 17 years old.

Cases of sexual and labor exploitation in Quintana Roo are not isolated. Last January, another 25 women were rescued from a bar in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco, where they also discovered that it functioned as a drug dealing establishment.

Around the same time, Tabasco authorities arrested Javier “N” in Villahermosa, identified as one of the alleged leaders of one of the human trafficking networks that operate in Quintana Roo.

The Quintana Roo Prosecutor’s Office was looking for Javier “N” in the case of a woman who reported him for forcing her to carry out sex jobs in exchange for money, a part of which had to be given to him, but during the investigations it was possible to identify more victims who followed the same scheme and were “under the care” of the alleged criminal.
