The governor of La Rioja, Ricardo Quintela, announced that his province “is not going to support the Base Law, it flatly rejects” the project and does not accept modifications either. Furthermore, he denounced that “the national administration has problems with all the provinces” and in particular with his, “because we were the first to go to court.”

The provincial leader ruled out that the approval of the project in Congress will boost private investments, and stated: “I heard from the presidents of the Justicialist Party of Catamarca that they are going to vote against it.”

“In the Deputies they approved atrocities, but I have hope that the Base Law will fall in the Senate,” he said, in dialogue with Radio 10.

In addition, Quintela pointed out against the national government and the non-compliance in sending funds, a situation from which his province is one of the most affected. “The resources we had available were diminished. They were resources that corresponded to us,” he remarked.

“They correspond because they are in the budget and that all the presidents recognized us,” he expanded, and assured that “the national management has a particular problem with all the provinces and in this specific case with La Rioja, because we were the first to go to the Justice and raise our differences.” Looking at the future of the link with the Casa Rosada, the governor predicted: “I think the conflicts are going to worsen.”

The president expressed that his district, which has already lost 10,000 jobs, “is eating up the few savings we had, the same thing happens in the other provinces. I think that several parties would have to join a resistance scheme in the streets against measures”. He also announced that “sooner or later there will be a precipitous fall in the President’s image.”

Regarding the possibilities of Peronism returning to power, he maintained that the space “has to recover the street again.” “The internal situation will be resolved, our teammates cannot go beyond a limit that is disqualification. Axel Kicillof is a great teammate but we cannot talk about candidates with the problems we have.”
