The Ministry of Security has divided the country into two large areas for the supervision of border corridors: the northern border and the rest of the country. In particular, special emphasis has been placed on the northern border, which encompasses the provinces bordering Bolivia and Chile, due to its extensive border line and numerous illegal crossings that present significant security challenges.

“This visit is very close to the people of Jujuy due to the border we have with Bolivia and Chile. There are 600 kilometers of open border with many illegal crossings and a very important vulnerability,” Minister Corro had highlighted before the suspension of the arrival of Patricia Bullrich.

Greater supervision on the northern border

The region faces problems such as smuggling and illegal migration, which makes the constant presence and supervision of national and provincial authorities essential. During the tour, authorities will evaluate the needs and possible improvements in border controls, as well as strategies to strengthen security in the area.

This visit is part of a broader effort by the national government to ensure that all the country’s border regions have the necessary resources and infrastructure to face the security challenges they present.

Monitoring of border corridors is expected to continue in other provinces in the coming months, as part of a comprehensive plan to improve security throughout the national territory.
