The ‘Digital Innovation’ initiative promotes technological inclusion and renewal.

In a show of commitment to technological renewal and access to knowledge, the rector of the University of Magdalena, Dr. Pablo Vera Salazar, delivered 200 new laptops to the German Bula Meyer library.

This initiative, called ‘Digital Innovation: Laptops for Knowledge and Technological Renewal in the Library’, seeks to strengthen the technological resources available to students and the academic community of the institution who use the equipment loan service.

With this significant addition, the Alma Mater library now has more than 800 laptops available for student service, consolidating itself as a fundamental pillar in supporting academic training and research.

Rector Pablo Vera Salazar highlighted the importance of this investment: “Today there are 200, but we are going to acquire a more significant number, because they are computers that are for those who do not have the possibility of having their own.”

The new equipment is intended to facilitate access to digital tools and educational resources, allowing users to carry out their academic activities with greater efficiency and comfort.

María Camila Hernández, a fourth semester Nursing student, was pleasantly surprised with a brand new computer as a gift. This gift was given by the rector Pablo Vera Salazar, in recognition of her dedication and good use of the laptop equipment loan service offered by the library.

“It is a very important acquisition, because many times I was left waiting for a long time while they vacated a computer and I consider that it was a good investment and it helps all of us university students who do not have one within our reach (…) since 2022 I have been using the service loan and I didn’t think that this would have any reward, because I do it for my training and I thank the Rector for having decided to give it to me because it is a great benefit for me,” the student María Camila Hernández expressed with gratitude at the event.

Aiming for inclusion

The new laptops not only represent an advance in terms of technology and access, but also a significant step towards inclusion, because some are equipped with specialized software for people with visual disabilities or low vision, ensuring that all members of the university community can fully benefit from digital resources.

This integration of accessible tools underlines UNIMAGDALENA’s commitment to equal opportunities and support for all its students, without exception, demonstrating that this delivery of laptops is one more step towards the digital transformation of the institution and the strengthening of its Technological infrastructure.
