​After a massive call throughout Chile, a hundred small, medium and large national companies were selected to attend the first edition of the Walmart Growth Summit in Chilean territory. The event seeks to promote the growth of local companies of all sizes, creating commercial and development opportunities through its different sales platforms in the country and the world.

According to what has been announced, of the 100 finalist companies, 54 obtained a “Golden Ticket”, that is, the pass that gave them the opportunity to become suppliers of the company, or if they were already suppliers, to add an additional market.

Regarding the above, a total of 18 will incorporate their products into the company’s almost 400 stores throughout the country or in its e-commerce, and another 36 will be able to export their products to the shelves of the 19 countries where Walmart operates.

“With this, it is estimated that producers, as a whole, could market about 50 million dollars annually between Chile and abroad,” highlights the retail giant.

In this way, Chile became the fourth market to hold the Walmart Growth Summit. The initiative was born in the United States ten years ago and has already been celebrated in India and Mexico.

“We are here to work with you and grow our companies together. “This is our first Growth Summit in this country, where we bring together small, medium and large Chilean companies with our Walmart buyers to explore how we can do business,” said Doug McMillon and Kathryne McLay, CEO of Walmart Inc., and CEO of Walmart. In addition, they were impressed by the results obtained in the call and pointed out that Chile is a key market in which they see a lot of growth potential.

This 2024, Walmart celebrates 15 years of having arrived in Chile. Today, the retailer is the third largest employer in the country, and has nearly 40,000 employees.
