As Jeferson Dizu Guegue and Joshua Dizu Gegue jurisdictionn identified two (2) brothers murdered in the township of Mondomolocated in the vicinity of the municipality of Santander de Quilichao (Cauca)in a fact reported by the La Aguada-San Antonio Indigenous Reservationbased in the neighboring town of Caldono.

The community members resided in the Siberian Lagoon shelter for work reasons.

“A mother cries for her two children. In the early morning of Monday, May 20, 2024 The community members and brothers Jeferson Dizu Guegue and Josue Dizu Guegue were murdered in the town of Mondomo,” reads the beginning of the statement issued by the Reservation.

“The events that we regret today are a reflection of the decadence that has been occurring in the armed groups of our country, that only generate war, hatred and fear; thereby wanting to take over political organizational scenarios of indigenous communities built for more than five centuries.”add the text.

This double homicide adds to the wave of violence that has shaken the southwest of the country since last Monday, which began with the attack with a motorbike bomb in a hotel in Jamundí (Valle) where a group of police officers were staying, and the harassment of a police station and looting a cashier of the agrarian Bank in Morales (Cauca), both cases carried out by the Central General Staff, the dissidence of Iván Mordisco.
