Almudena Navarrocouncilor of the Socialist Municipal Group in the Jerez City Council, has held a meeting with families of students from the CEIP San José Obrero affected by the decision of the Andalusian Government not to maintain a second line of early childhood education at this public center in Jerez.

“We thank the families of the students of the CEIP San José Obrero for the courtesy they have shown when meeting with our Municipal Group. We have conveyed our full support to their demands because they are fair and common sense. The center has the capacity to have up to three lines of early childhood education and there are more than forty requests for schooling. The intransigent refusal of the Andalusian Government is neither understandable nor acceptable,” says Almudena Navarro.

The socialist councilor points out that: “With this decision, The Moreno Bonilla Board is causing serious harm to families, who live in the area close to the CEIP San José Obrero and who are being forced to move their sons and daughters to other more distant centers in order to receive a quality public education. And the Board does this without any justification since the CEIP San José Obrero has material and human resources to attend to all the requests that have been presented so far.”

From the PSOE of Jerez “all the mobilizations and demands that are being carried out by the educational community of the CEIP San José Obrero are supported and we wonder what are the reasons why the Board governed by the PP refuses to grant a second line of early childhood education to this public school, when the conditions are met for these families to be able to enroll their children in their reference center. , which has also been recently renovated,” adds the socialist councilor.

Likewise, they have announced that they will take a proposal to the next municipal plenary session. “From the Municipal Socialist Group we are going to bring the voice of the educational community of the CEIP San José Obrero to the next ordinary plenary session of the month of May in our City Hall. For this we have registered a proposition in which The Junta de Andalucía is urged to grant the second line of early childhood education to the CEIP San José Obrero”, announces Almudena Navarro.

“We hope that the rest of the political groups are sensitive to these demands and support our proposal unanimously, without fissures or amendments, because the improvement of our public education system should be a common objective for all. The CEIP San José Obrero must have a second line of early childhood education and as councilors of the town of Jerez we have the obligation to demand it from the Junta de Andalucía with our voice and our vote,” concludes the councilor.
