The UNC School of Trades launches its pre-registration calendar for the 2024 season. In this edition, 34 courses will be taught that apply to eight sectors of production and services linked to labor demands and identified interests.

The program offers training in various trades with the aim of improving students’ work skills and competencies. Conrado Storanisecretary of University Extension at the UNC, highlighted in dialogue with Chain 3 that in Viva la Radio, in the Gajes del Oficio section, they will seek to “make visible the work we do from the university.”

The first day of pre-registration attracted a large number of people interested in the courses. According to Storani, the majority are between 42 and 60 years old and are looking to improve their skills or learn new ones to improve their working conditions or start a new business. Additionally, she noted an increase in the number of women enrolled in trades traditionally associated with men.

UNC is also working to sustain this project despite the financial challenge. Storani mentioned a recent announcement by the presidential spokesperson about an agreement among all public universities to equalize operating expenses, which was received with positive expectations from UNC.

“First and second universities cannot exist in Argentina,” declared Storani when referring to the bilateral agreement between the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and the national government. Adding that they hope that this new announcement puts all universities on an equal footing.
