The president of the International Association of Hispanists (AIH), Gloria Chicote, the president of the Duques de Soria Foundation (FDS), Rafael Benjumea, and the general secretary of the FDS, José María Rodríguez Ponga, have presented the programming. Gloria Chicote explained that the different discussion tables will be headed by prominent speakers from Spanish and international universities and will revolve around topics such as the role of migration in Hispanicism, or the evolution of language and culture from gender studies. to digital transformations. This meeting, held in Soria, will be the last in-person meeting of the Board of the International Association of Hispanists, before its next International Congress. Gloria Chicote recalled that the headquarters of the meeting, the FDS, is “the home of the Association of Hispanists for 30 years”, three decades of working together and since 2013 it was established “as an institutional headquarters in Buenos Aires.” “An enclave that does not only symbolize Soria or Spain but is a meeting point for people dedicated to the study of Hispanism, for the more than 500 million Spanish speakers,” stressed the president of the AIG. Thus, he has stated that from the FDS “the spirit of internationalism, of acceptance of diversity, has always prevailed, which means dedicating oneself to Hispanicism in different parts of the world” where one of the concerns is to “bring the study of Hispanicism closer to those emerging Hispanicists”.
