The Search Unit for Persons Reported Missing (UBPD) through the Eastern Region manager, Adriana Pestana, released an extensive report on the work that this unit is carrying out in the department of Guaviare.

More than 5,000 people are reported missing in Guaviare, according to the investigative work that this entity carries out in this area. Nearly 70 people have been found and handed over to their families.

In an interview with Marandua Noticias, the official expressed that the unit’s competence is to search for people who are reported missing by relatives who want a response from their relatives. For this purpose, the search system was signed where it is an obligation to be adopted by state entities and to be included in development plans.

The manager of the Unit stated that the Eastern regional that she leads is made up of the departments of Arauca, Vichada, Meta and Guaviare. In San José del Guaviare, the Unit has an office in the 20 de Julio neighborhood to receive requests from people who suffer from cases of missing relatives.

It stands out that in Guaviare, because it is a large and very dispersed territory, the work has been a bit wasteful and difficult because the majority of cases and events have happened in rural areas.

Finally, he assured the UBPD manager that the mission of the Missing Persons Search Unit is to find the more than 10,000 people who have been reported as victims of the scourge of disappearance.
