The University of Magdalena was selected to host the next University Games of the Union of University Workers and Employees of Colombia, Sintraunicol, which will be held in September of this year in Santa Marta.

In addition, these sports events will be decorated with the commemoration of the 33 years of founding of this union organization and also with the holding of the seventh cultural meeting, where delegations from all the public universities in the country will participate.

The rector Pablo Vera Salazar welcomed this decision and immediately outlined routes to make all the Alma Mater’s sports venues available, to receive more than three thousand people from all corners of the country.

“Here they come to show their sports disciplines, cultural knowledge, but also and above all to generate a positive impact for the city, to show the opportunities that the public university has in Colombia because university unionism builds the country from the regions,” explained the Top Manager.

Enthusiastic and hopeful, María Elizabeth Montoya Ceballos, national president of Sintraunicol, extended the invitation to all universities in Colombia and other countries associated with the Union to participate in this great event and get to know the University of Magdalena and Santa Marta that is on the eve of turning 500 years old.

It is planned that these games and cultural meetings will take place for a full week and thus generate the opportunity to live the experience of the fifth version of the Craft, Arts and Culture Fair ‘The voice of the ancestors’ organized by this House of Higher Studies every year.

It will be a space of great importance for the university community but also for all Samaria, since these events generate not only a social impact, but also an economic reactivation for the city.
