It is a challenge and an obligation as an artist

Next Saturday, May 25, the renowned singer Silvia Lallana will present a very special show, closely linked to the date on which she will perform with her trio at the La Llave theater.

It is a concert that has national identity as an unavoidable reference, in this case through music and a repertoire specially prepared for the occasion.

According to the protagonist of the night, who had an outstanding participation in the most recent National Folklore Festival of Cosquín, it will also be the opportunity to settle a pending score on an artistic level.

“They called me from the theater to hold a date there on May 25 and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to materialize an idea that had been floating around in my head,” says Lallana herself about the origin of Cantares de mi tierra, a show in which will propose “a musical journey interpreting a song for each genre and rhythm that Argentines experience.”

“This date, so significant for our history, seemed ideal to launch this show,” says the singer, who assures that the challenge of summarizing in a concert a possible repertoire as vast as the country’s territory was not easy.

“It was not easy to choose a song from each genre, but I tried to rescue and allow myself to sing those songs that some I have sung before and others not, and that was the challenge,” says Lallana, used to singing tango and folklore, but also open on this opportunity to experience “a captivating mix of rhythms and melodies”, as defined by the press text that anticipated the event..

“In addition to the folkloric and tango rhythms that I usually perform, I am going to include a song by Leonardo Favio, one by Charly García, a cumbia and a quartet,” says Lallana, while he does not hesitate to affirm that “each of these songs contributes a richness and diversity that reflect the plurality of our music.”

“We will make 20 songs that will cover 20 different rhythms, all representative of our beloved homeland, Argentina. “We are working intensely to capture the essence of our rich musical diversity in each melody,” the singer announced days ago on her Instagram profile.

Meeting point

In that same vein, this Saturday’s show will also be an occasion to remember and sustain the importance of those disciplines that, like music in its different forms, make their contribution to the identity construction of a society.

“The moments we are going through are difficult and this is when we must contribute the most with our music, showing that it is alive and that we are standing, defending our culture,” says Lallana.

“Performing this show on such a symbolic day for Argentina is a challenge and an obligation as an artist,” says the singer, consubstantiated with this proposal symbolically crossed by both history and the current context. “It is an opportunity to connect with the public and reflect the resilience and spirit of our country through music,” says the artist.

For this task, Lallana will not be alone. On the contrary, three musicians with great local and national experience join this challenge. “The tremendous trio that will accompany me that night is a luxury and an enjoyment in each rehearsal, where the ideas and ways of putting together each song arise. Sebastián Tello on piano and voice, Esteban Gutiérrez on percussion, and Maxi Bressanini on bass and voice make up an ideal ensemble to perform each of the songs,” comments the singer.

“In addition, we will have the visuals specially prepared by Martín Eschóyez to project on the screen,” says the vocalist, who also highlights the La Llave theater as “a true powerhouse of shows and plays.”

“It is a warm environment where proximity to the public enriches the experience both for them and for us, the artists,” Lallana concludes.

The singer and her band will review tango and folklore but also rock, cumbia and quartet, among other styles. (Press/Sergio Manes).
