The charging for water use at the Limay and Neuquén dams was approved

The Legislature of Neuquén generally approved the bill that establishes the collection of a fee for the use and use of water for the generation of electrical energy. The initiative seeks to settle an old dispute over the province’s natural resources, allocating the funds raised to designing and building new generators.

Representative Cielubi Obreque (MPN) described the measure as “an act of justice and also reparation.” Obreque He explained that 70% of the income will be allocated to the construction of new dams, solar and wind farms, and to improve electric transportation, with the aim of reducing rates for Neuquén residents.

“Transportation will not be charged, the demand is what the people of Neuquén need,” he stated. AND22% of the funds will be allocated to municipalities that receive co-participation, and 8% to non-communities.on, to finance new lots with service and redevelop settlements.

Deputy Damián Canuto (Pro) mentioned that “the parameter to determine the canon may be a matter of discussion or controversy, such as the use of the cubic meter versus the cubic hectometer.” However, he highlighted the province’s legitimate right to regulate these resources.

César Gass (Together for Change) recalled that “the privatization of the 90s was done poorly because the business units were separated.” He advocated for greater participation by Neuquén in the negotiation with Río Negro over the ownership of the dams, reaffirming that “Neuquén has to be part of the negotiation with Río Negro in the discussion over the ownership of the dams.”

Gabriel Álamo (MPN) praised the work of the MPN bloc and considered it positive that part of the canon resources are distributed to the municipalities.
