The National Police accompanied one of the members, who died in the line of duty.

The body of Diego David López Domínguez, 24 years old, one of the patrolmen killed in the terrorist attack on the Police Station in the municipality of Morales-Cauca, was received with honors at the Alfonso López Airport, after his transfer in a military plane, being buried yesterday in its homeland, the town of Valencia de Jesús in Valledupar.

In his town he was waited with white balloons and a street of honor to receive one of his sons who came out with many dreams to help his family move forward and because of the war that Colombia is experiencing they disappeared. López Domínguez had been in the police institution for four years and two months at the station where the unfortunate event occurred. He was the only boy among six siblings.

It should be remembered that the uniformed man had announced that he would be at the end of this month in the town of Valencia de Jesús, jurisdiction of Valledupar, to share with his family and friends who were always waiting for him to enjoy a stew of Creole chicken.

The patrolman’s funeral took place yesterday morning with all the honors and with the accompaniment of his colleagues from the National Police who took him to his final resting place.

Brigadier General Wharlinton Gualdrón, commander of Police Region 8, also made an appearance; the commander of the Cesar Police Department, Colonel Eduardo Chamorro Pinzón and the Valledupar Metropolitan Police Commander, Colonel Alex Durán Santos.

Diego López Domínguez was a brave man who dedicated his life to protecting and serving our community. “His sacrifice will not be forgotten, we promise to honor his memory, his example strengthens us in this moment of pain,” police authorities stated.
