President Gustavo Petro visited the municipality of Moralesin Cauca, recently attacked by the dissidents of Iván Mordisco.

He was also in Popayán, the capital, where He led a security council in which the Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, participated; the military and police leadership, the mayors of Cauca, Governor Octavio Guzmán.

From Popayán, the Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, announced a reward of $500 million for information that allows the capture of leaders of the Jaime Martínez front of the dissidents.

And, according to the Casa de Nariño, by order of the president, there will be no ceasefire with these dissidents in the southwest of the country until their illicit economies are dismantled.

Among the measures adopted, Petro also ordered to combat drug trafficking and illegal mining, to the extent that this strategy seeks, as the Minister of Defense explained, to weaken the organization.

Just before the security council, the president had toured the municipality of Morales, where he received a report on the events of last Monday due to the dissidents of the Central General Staff (EMC).

And in that context, the president was at the municipality’s police station that was attacked and left two police officers dead last Monday. On the one hand, the president highlighted the work of 17 members of the institution who repelled the attack.

And in Popayán, he decorated another 37 members of the police with the medal for Valor for Heroic Acts of Service, also for responding to the events in the municipality of Morales.
