Havana, May 24 (RHC) The Azeri ambassador in the Cuban capital, Ruslan Rzayev, affirmed this Friday that Cuba and Azerbaijan maintain good prospects for cooperation, including in medical services.

After attending the ceremony at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People (ICAP), for the 106th anniversary of his nation’s independence, the diplomat declared to the Prensa Latina agency that there are spheres open to mutually advantageous cooperation such as that of health.

For her part, the vice president of ICAP, Noemí Rebasa, recalled that both States signed a memorandum of understanding in 2023 in the field of medical services and health programs.

The official referred to two medical brigades of the internationalist ‘Henry Reeve’ contingent sent to Azerbaijan in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Rzayev also pointed out that there is good potential to strengthen trade relations through triangular cooperation projects between Cuba, Azerbaijan and a third country.

“There is surely a need to explore more possibilities in the agricultural sphere, telecommunications, and sports, because although we have made progress in that area, more can be done,” he commented.

In reference to the regional situation around his country, the ambassador indicated that “Azerbaijan promotes an agenda of peace in the Caucasus and dialogue that we maintain permanently with Armenia to achieve the signing of a peace treaty.”

He added that this will contribute to the development of the region so that all neighboring countries march together in their development. (Source: Prensa Latina)
