The MPA will ask that a 45-year-old man be sentenced to five years in prison for having hit two people with a car on the premises of the old railway station in the town of Videla (San Justo department).

Both the penalty that will be required and the terms of the accusation were informed by prosecutor Guillermo Persello in the preliminary hearing, which took place before Judge Octavio Silva in the courts of the city of Santa Fe.

The victims themselves – a man and a woman – became plaintiffs. Through their lawyer, they made a proposal similar to that of the prosecution with a request for a sentence of 6 years in prison, for the crimes of “attempted simple homicide” and “threats.”

The crime was committed minutes before 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. The prosecutor noted that “on the former railway property there is a parking lot for large vehicles to which the victims arrived in a truck.”

Meanwhile, he stated that “the accused, whose initials are ADL, arrived in a Peugeot model 408 car and had an argument with the truck driver.”

Persello reported that “then the two men got out of their vehicles,” and stressed that “the person who will be tried threatened to kill the other driver and hit him with his fist.” In this sense, he pointed out that “the victim looked for a stick to defend himself and the woman accompanying him got out of the truck to try to stop the violent situation.”

“Finally, the accused quickly got into his car, turned the steering wheel, pointed the vehicle toward where the victims were and accelerated with the intention of running them over,” Persello highlighted.

“The man and woman who were standing were attacked and were trapped between their truck and the aggressor’s car, which caused injuries to different parts of their bodies,” he added.

At the preliminary hearing held, the prosecution and the defense discussed what each party had raised.

Now the magistrate must decide whether the conditions are in place for an oral and public debate to take place. If he so deems it, the Office of Judicial Management (OGJ) will be in charge of choosing a court and establishing the start date of the trial.
